Online event. BHC presents the review of trends in public policy in the field of human rights - 2024

12.02.2025

2024 appears to mark the end of a five‐year period of a new phase in Belarusian society that began in 2020. The peak of repressive policy at the legislative level was reached in 2023. In 2024, the state was “digesting” previous measures and even went into a second round, introducing new changes to already repressive legal provisions.

We will discuss these and other trends of 2024 on Thursday, February 20, 2025:

  • 13:00 (Minsk time)
  • 12:00 (Vilnius time)
  • 11:00 (Warsaw time)
  • 14:00 (Tbilisi time)

Recall our review will highlight the substantive changes in Belarusian public policy in the field of human rights and reactions to it of the international community in three areas:

  • general measures: systemic things — legislation, strategies, policies, that generally determine the conditions and background for the implementation of human rights in Belarus;
  • law enforcement: concrete violations of civil and political rights, as well as in the field of social, economic, and cultural rights;
  • key decisions and reactions of international institutions regarding the situation with human rights in Belarus.

All trend reviews can be found at trends.belhelcom.org.

The issue for the third trimester (September–December) will be published on the day of the presentation.

Subscribe to the mailing list to receive the trends by email (once per trimester).
